All-Star Weekend & Oscars

This is always an eventful time of the year because of the All Star weekend, which was held in Orlando, FL. There were many celebs out and about in the streets of Orlando to celebrate as well as tourists that want to be apart of this event. The major events that were televised were the dunk contest that happened on Saturday and the All-Star game on Sunday. The dunk contest was okay, there were a couple of delays with the dunks but Jeremy Evans from the Utah Jazz came out on top and won that. The All-Star game on Sunday seemed like a dunk contest the first quarter and the West had a great lead by the end of the first half (88-69) and then the second half the East was making a comeback but they didn't come out on top. The West won (152-149) with Kobe Bryant passing the score of Michael Jordan for all star games greatest scorer. The MVP ended up being Kevin Durant who contributed 36 points to the team. The Oscars were on at the same time as the All-Star game so I didn't catch too much of that but I saw a couple of the dresses that were worn. One of the memorable dresses was worn by J. Lo who is no stranger to risque' but tasteful. She almost had a wardrobe malfunction but it was caught in time. I also saw that Octavia Spencer won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in the movie The Help. Well that is my spill for today

My Favorite Moment on Soul Train

I like the rest of the world was shocked to hear the news of Don Cornelius passing. He was most definitely a pioneer for black music and because of him BET and other music channels exist. More so he helped those of his own color, he helped others see the talents of black people in singing, dancing and later on rapping. He gave a stage for all of these talents to be show cased. There were many famous performers that touched the stage of Soul Train. This show came to an end in 2006 but it has and still does impact many. My favorite moment was when The Jackson 5 performed “Dancing Machine” as seen in the video below. May Mr. Cornelius R.I.P.
